St. Patrick’s Day and the Savannah Morning News

Whoa! What a weekend! We recently built a relationship with our city’s newspaper, The Savannah Morning News. We’re going to be producing some really fun video content for them throughout the year, and we are super excited about this new project. As a new media agency, we’re really looking forward to forging a relationship with a traditional media outlet to make awesome things happen together.

They invited us to ride on their float in Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. If you’re not familiar with Savannah’s love of St. Patrick’s Day, we take it VERY seriously here. We have, traditionally, the second largest St. Paddy’s day celebrations in the country. The city shuts down and quite literally turns green. Over half a million people visit Savannah for the St. Patrick’s Day holiday each year, so it’s a very exciting time for us. This year, we even got a visit from the Vice President. Riding on a float, especially with a well respected news organization, is a pretty big deal, too.

We seized the opportunity, and while we were on the float, we shot a fun video from a non-traditional perspective. We got a whole lot of footage of the crowd along the parade route. Revelers wear some pretty interesting outfits, to put it lightly, and we were really excited to document their sartorial choices. Plus, people love to see themselves on camera.

We went back to the office that afternoon and edited the video. It was sent back to them before 5pm, and they were able to post it on their website, youtube, and social media channels that evening. In this fast paced digital world, if someone isn’t posted immediately, interest quickly wanes. That’s why it was so important to us to deliver the finished product to them that day.

Don’t worry, we enjoyed some green beer after we hit ‘send’.
