What makes people want to watch a video interview? We’re still working on developing that answer. But what we do know is what people don’t want to see: the interview subject stiffly posed and talking directly to the camera. That’s why we like to have our interview subjects move around and do something while they speak. It creates a feeling of ease for the person on camera, and it gives the viewer something interesting to look at.
We recently shot a series of videos for Mike Hostilo where he’s driving a car on a closed road. It was some of our best footage for him yet, and it was super casual. One of us shot from the passenger seat, and one of us shot from the backseat. He felt relaxed and happy, and we got some great shots.
